Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City North Ameer and member of central executive council Mohammad Selim Uddin and secretary Dr. Muhammad Rezaul Karim strongly condemned and protested the coverage of untrue, baseless and purposefully syndicated news by some mass media. Jamaat Dhaka City North arranged the peaceful mass procession program as the part of simultaneous movement demanding the release of national leaders including Jamaat Ameer, re-establishment of democracy, resignation of failed government, national election under caretaker government including 10 point- demands but some mass media purposefully released fake and fabricated news centered on this program. Jamaat leaders urged them in a statement to avoid such type of fake and fabricated news.
“The government has destroyed democracy and democratic values to prolong their political high ambition. They have cancelled the caretaker government system and democracy has been sent to exile. The opposition political parties including Jamaat announced 10 point-demands simultaneous movement to restore democracy and democratic values in the country. They demanded the re-establishment of democracy, resignation of Awami BAKSAL government, national election under caretaker government. On December 30, a three-member delegation from the side of Jamaat submitted a direct application to the DMP office, first by e-mail, and then by a three-member delegation to the DMP office for full cooperation in carrying out the mass rally peacefully,” they added.
Meeting-rally is a fundamental and constitutional right of every citizen. Articles 37 and 38 of the Constitution provide this guarantee. BNP applied to the DMP and got permission for the mass rally, but the police administration treated the Jamaat in a lenient manner on the orders of the fascist government. But out constitution provides equal rights for every citizen. But the police administration is depriving Jamaat from these rights and abusing human rights.
“Jamaat Dhaka City North arranged a peaceful mass procession program on the basis of the constitutional rights. The mass procession was started from Rampura Bazar and it circled various important roads of the city. When it reached near to Mouchak, police barricaded. Police tried to snatch away the banner but the responsible brothers tried to control the circumstances. But still some policemen aggravated the situation by selectively attacking the crowd. Police fired rubber bullets, tear gas and charged batons on the crowd. Half of hundred activists was injured and near one hundred leaders and activists were arrested. All have witnessed the phenomenon through social media. But unfortunately, The Ekattor TV, The Bangladesh Protidin, The Dhaka Post, The Daily Janakantho, The Daily Manabkantho, The Daily Bhorer Kagoj, The Daily Bangla Tribune, The Daily Jaijaidin, The Independent, 24.com and other mass media printed and broadcast fake news in a planned way. Jamaat is an idealist, democratic, constitutional and pro-people political party. So Jamaat has not been accused of attacking the police or being involved in any illegal activity in the past, nor is it yet; It won’t be there in the future either In-Sha-Allah,” Jamaat leaders also added.
“Fazlu, Shahjahan and Yahya were remanded for 1 day each in case No. 35(12)22 of Rampura Police Station, Kawsar was remanded for 2 days in Case No. 23(12)22 of Ramna Police Station, Azam, Humayan and Saizuddin 1 day each, Hatirjheel 50 (12)22 9 persons including Idris Ali 2 days each, Shahjahan and Yahya 1 day each, 3 persons including Rukon Uddin in case No. 21(12)22 of Mirpur police station, Golam Azam in case No. 5(12)22 of Rupnagar police station and sent Najib to Jail in Shahjahanpur police station in case 20(12)22. All of them have been brutally tortured in their respective police stations. Even elderly Abdus Sobhan and Kausar’s hands were broken by bringing the police station. These are clearly human rights abuses and the violation of rules of laws. A class of media has deliberately published false and baseless news,” they again added.
These two Jamaat leaders strongly condemned and protested the illegal arrest and false cases of police. They demanded the immediate and release of the arrestees.
The leaders strongly condemned and protested the publication of untrue, baseless and purposeful news in various media including 71 TV.
