Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City North Ameer and member of central executive council Mohammad Selim Uddin said, “Autocratic, fascist and undemocratic force will be ousted and pro-people government will be established through mass upheaval. People’s rights will be ensured In-Sha-Allah.”
He today said these at a pro-mass procession rally in the capital. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City North arranged the mass procession as the part of the central program. They demanded the resignation of illegal government, abolishment of national parliament, national election under caretaker government, 10 point-demands, release of national leaders including Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City North secretary and member of central working committee Dr. Muhammad Rezaul Karim, Mahfuzur Rahman- member of central Mojlish-e-Shura and assistant secretary of Jamaat Dhaka City North, Nazim Uddin Mollah, Dr. Fakharuddin Manik, Muhammad Ataur Rahman Sarker- member of working committee of Jamaat Dhaka City North, Nasir Uddin, Jamaat leader Sha Alam Tuhim and others were also present in the mass procession. People chanted slogans ‘Naraye Takbir’ ‘Allahu Akbar’ ‘One Point’ ‘One Demand’ ‘When will Sheikh go?’ At this moment caretaker government needs, ‘Why Ameer-e-Jamaat in prison?’ ‘Answer murdered Hsina’ ‘Why are the bullets in the street?’ ‘Reply murdered Hasina’.
The procession was started from Rampura Bazar and circled the important roads of the city when it came near Mouchak and was stopped by police. Police tried to snatch away the banner of the mass procession and fired rubber bullets tear gas and charged batons on the mass procession. But the agitators went forward when the procession reached Malibagh Hosuf Centre, police indiscriminately fired rubber bullets and tear gas on the procession. The police arrested near hundred activists and many were injured.
“Awami League has made the political field and democracy play stage. Pro-government political leaders have been turned into jokers. The government wants to arrange a fake election to prolong their illegal power. Freedom of expression and assembly on the streets is a constitutional right of every citizen, but the government is depriving the people of that right by deploying the police force and party terrorists,” he added.
Selim Uddin urged the law enforcers and public administrators to perform their duties impartially and loyally to the Republic.
“The government has arrested Ameer-e-Jamaat ond other national political leaders to prevent upcoming mass upheaval. But no fascist and autocratic force did not save their illegal power and Awami League won’t be either,” he further added.
He demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Jamaat Ameer. Otherwise, people will release Jamaat Ameer by ousting the government.
“Government has no ground under feet. They are trying to save themselves by making many conspiracies. Their heartbeat has increased after the announcement of 10 point-demand. Now they are misbehaving with foreign diplomats,” he also added.
He called forth the government to hand over power to caretaker government immediately.
“Jamaat is a systematic, democratic and ideological political party. Jamaat believes in positive politics, rules of law and constitutional rule. We are against corruption, misrule, killing, terrorism, anarchy and militancy. Jamaat has the representatives in all parliament except an election of farce of 2014 and 2018 after independence. Jamaat has played a significant role in all democratic movements,” he again added.
“The government has started to compose fictitious stories of alleged sabotage to distract the ongoing mass protests in fear of losing power. However, a review of history shows that in the past, Awami League was involved in all acts of sabotage including arson. They have announced in advance to field party terrorists to thwart the movement of the masses. This proves that they failed to deal with the political opponents politically and ideologically and chose the path of terror and anarchy,” he again added.
