Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City North Ameer and member of central executive council Mohammad Selim Uddin urged all regardless of party and opinion to build up a united movement on the streets with the conviction of establishing a new democratic Bangladesh free from poverty, hunger and misrule instead of undemocratic and fascist rule motivated by the spirit of freedom and victory.
He today said these as the president at an auditorium in the capital. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City North arranged the program. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City North secretary and member of central working committee Dr. Muhammad Rezaul Karim conducted it. Jamaat Dhaka City North Nayeeb-e-Ameer and member of central working committee Abdur Rahman Musa, Nazim Uddin Mollah, assistant secretary of Jamaat Dhaka City North and member of central Mojlish-e-Shura, Jamaat leader ASM Bashar and others were also president in the program.
‘‘We gained victory through liberation war for the establishment of equality, social justice, rules of law and liberal democracy. But half a century of independence and great victory have passed, but our achievements have not been greatly enriched. Inequality instead of equality, injustice instead of justice, tyranny instead of rule of law and autocracy instead of democracy have been established. People’s rights have been snatched away. All regardless party and ideology should work together to emancipate the country and the nation from this autocratic force,” he added.
He remembered the martyred and living brave freedom fighters in the liberation war with deep respect and called for all to unite in realizing the dreams of the brave martyrs.
“Government has totally failed to govern the country. The unbridled rise of price hike has made people’s lives miserable. Corruption, irregularities and looting have been institutionalized. The activists and leaders of ruling party have laundered more than 10 lakh core taka. All should work together to save this country from this fascist rule,” he further added.
“Militancy has been made the new issue after the flopping of war crimes issue of the government. From this continuation, government has arrested mass people leader Jamaat Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahaman illegally. He has relation to militancy. Torturing him, law enforcers are abusing human rights,” he again added.
City Ameer urged the government to release Dr Shafiqur Rahman, former MP Allama Delware Hossain Saidee, ATM Azharul Islam, Nayeeb-e-Ameer and former MP Maulana ANM Shamsul Islam, secretary general professor Mia Golum Parwar, assistant secretary general Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan and other leaders and activists.
“Government has cancelled the system of caretaker government from the constitution to prolong their power. They have limited freedom of expression by formulating Digital Security Act. They have snatched away fundamental rights like freedom of speech and democracy. The state is becoming isolated for the wrong foreign policy of the government,” he also added.
He further urged the government to hand over power to caretaker government immediately. Otherwise. People will secure their mass demand In-Sha-Allah.
