Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City North secretary and member of central working committee Dr. Muhammad Rezaul Karim said, “The hellish massacre was carried out in Paltan on 28 October 2006 in order to destroy democracy and democratic values by turning the country into a failed and terror-dependent barbaric state.”
He today said these while speaking at a pre-demonstration rally in the capital. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City North arranged the demonstration protesting the barbaric and brutal killings of Awami boat-hook oar movement (The Logi Boitha Movement) on 28 October 2006. They demanded the murderers be brought to justice and punished immediately. The demonstration was begun from Mohakhali Gonoshasthaya Center. It moved various important roads of the city. It was ended at Nabisco. Lashkar Muhammad Taslim, assistant secretary of Jamaat Dhaka City North, Mahfuzur Rahma, Nazim Uddin Mollah, Dr. Fakharuddin Manik, Hemayet Hossain, member of working committee of Jamaat Dhaka City North, Yeasin Arafat, Jamal Uddin, Meshba Uddin Nayeem, member of Mojlish-e-Shura of Jamaat Dhaka City North, Muhammad Ataur Rahman Sarkar, student leader Abdullah-al Mamun, Jakir Hossain and others were also present in the demonstration.
“This Awami Boat-hook massacre and brutal killing have defeated all cruelties of the past. It reminds us the brutality and carnage of Halaku Khan’s destruction of Baghdad. 57 high army officials and the top leaders of Jamaat including Maulana Motiur Rahman Niazami have been killed as the part of that conspiracy. By killing them the country, the country has been unsaved, he added.
“Basically, this killing was not an immediate or isolated incident but was part of a deeper conspiracy to destroy the country, the nation, the country’s independence-sovereignty, Islam and Islamic values. The conspirators realized that they could never come to power in a normal, orderly and democratic way with the people’s mandate. They chose this hellish path of brutal killings to destroy the democratic system of the country. But even though a long time has passed after the massacre, the criminals have not been brought to justice, instead the killers have been rewarded and sponsored by the state. Therefore, there is no use in seeking justice for this massacre from this failed and tyrannical government,” he further added.
He expressed his firm conviction that the murder of Paltan martyrs Mujahid-Shipon will be avenged by establishing justice in the country.
“This anti-people and mandate less government has been unstable due to the fear of losing power. The more the people have been gathered in the streets, the more the government is fearing. They have already started fearing. The power seekers are making different conspiracies to prologue their power. They are giving the example of constitution to avoid the mass demand of caretaker government. All knows that these BaKSAL supporters have amended the constitutions for many times in their favor. They have come to power by votes rigging. People have never accepted this one-sided constitutional amendment of Awami League; they will not accept it anymore in future,” he again added.
He called for the government to form an all-party constitutional commission to enshrine the permanent provisions of the electoral caretaker government in the constitution. He warned that the government will have to face severe difficulties if they try to bypass this mass demand of the people.
