Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City North Ameer and member of central executive council Mohammad Selim Uddin said, “The unlimited inflation has occurred due to Awami maladministrarion, misrule, looting and consecutive failure and now the echoes of famine are being heard in the country.”
He today said these at a pro-demonstration rally in the capital. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City North arranged the demonstration. The demonstrators demand the control of unbridled increase of price hike and brought the daily necessities under the purchasing power of common people. The demonstration was begun from Mirpur-10. It moved various important roads of the city. It was ended through a short rally.

The rate of inflation has broken all past records due to government’s failure. Our country has the highest food prices in South Asia. The price of fuel has been increased though the price of fuel in the global market is at the lowest level now. The increase of price of electricity and gas has become a matter of daily affairs. But load shedding has become a common affair in the country. The inflation rate of products and service has crossed 9% in last August-September due to unlimited inflation.
The inflation rate was 9.5% in August and it was 9.1% in September. This rate of inflation in August was the highest in 11 years and 3 months or in the last 135 months. It has made people’s lives miserable and disrupted. Taking the responsibilities, he urged the government to resign. Otherwise, people will overthrow the government through mass movement In-Sha-Allah.
“Awami League and femine are synonymous word. Whenever they came to power, there was a femine in the country. There was a severe famine in the country in 1974 due to their misdeeds. 27 thousand people were died due to femine according to the then BaKSAL’s government. From 1 to 4 lakhs people were died due to femine according to non-government sources. Basanti Devi wore banana leaves lack of clothes. Many starvent people had to stand in a long queue to eat a small piece of bread. This pathetic scenery is not forgettable, we can’t forget. And this famine was the worst and deadliest famine in living memory. So, if this government is in power, there will be a repeat of famine worse than ’74,” he again added.
The ruling party are making many conspiracies to avoid the mass demand of caretaker government. They want to stay in power by rigging votes like 2014 and 2018 and they want to continue their maladministration and misrule over the nation. For this, they have invented EVM theory.
“He said mentioning the torture and oppression on the opponents, “The police are prosecuting, attacking and hurling tear-shells at peaceful gatherings of opposition parties. The police have already killed some opposition party leaders and activists brutally. So. There is no expectation to this tyrannical government, rather we have to start the movement of caretaker government together,” he further added.
“Now Awami League are fearing of loosing power. They are fearing their shadows now. They can’t believe anybody. They are now targeting the honest, committed, talent and patriotic officers of the republic. So, government are sending them forced retirement. They are threatening some of them to file an anti-state case. The government want to misguide people to spread fictitious story against these officers. But they were fully patronizing the so-called Jonotar Moncho in 1996. The government is engaged in a deep conspiracy to make the entire bureaucracy subservient to the government by showing various threats,” he further added.
He urged the government officials to play their duties fairly, being accountable to the republic and committed to the law and the constitution with complete professionalism without any political partisanship.
