Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City North secretary and member of central working committee Dr. Muhammad Rezaul Karim said, “Government has increased the fuel price when the country is crossing a financial crisis. They have raised the fuel price so that they can loot and corrupt.”
“The country is going through a frenzy of load shedding now but the government paid Tk 70,000 crore in the name of quick rental to meet the country’s electricity shortage in the past,” he added. He urged the government to immediately withdraw the gauche decision to keep the fuel price stable. Otherwise, the government has to face public anger.

“Government is referring the hike of fuel price in the world market but it is not true. The price of Brent Crude Oil in the world market has decreased by 80 cents or 0.8 percent to 103.15 dollars per barrel last week of July. The price of West Texus Intermediate crude has decreased from 1.18 dollars or 1.2 percent to 97.44 dollars per barrel. The production has decreased in China, the largest fuel importer country, in July due to covid-19 lockdown. Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) has fallen down from 51.7 to 50.4 in July. On the other hand, the production of Japan is the lowest in July among last 10 months. There is no rationality to increase the price of fuel,” he also added.
“All including farmers will suffer as the price of fuel has been increased. The price of daily essentials will be increased. Mass transportation, agriculture and irrigation sectors will be affected negatively. The power sector of the country will not be out of it as energy is used to produce electricity. Financial crisis has been created in the country due to imprudence of the government. They have been failed to ensure the normal supply in the market. In this situation, the hike of fuel price will make new crisis and turn the country into more financial crisis. Basically, the present government is ruling the country like colonials. They have assumed the role of indigo merchants. To emancipate the country from the hands of undemocratic and BaKSAL power, there is no alternative but ousting the anti-people government,” he further added.
He urged all to be united regardless party, race, caste and ideology to oust this fascist government.
“Government has destroyed the democracy, democratic values and democratic institutions in planned way to prologue their power permanent. They are also involved in a deep conspiracy. They have misled the law enforces agencies. They want to grab power again by holding an election like 2014 and 2018. They have started new conspiracy like EVM. They have started the path of killings and disappearances. But the conscious people will never let their dreams come true. The law enforces agencies have to support people in the upcoming movement,” he again added.
He urged the government to justify people’s mandate by holding a free and fair election under a caretaker government. He also urged the government to immediately resign. Otherwise, people will secure their demand through mass movement In-Sha-Allah.
