Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City North secretary and member of central working committee Dr. Rezaul Karim said, “Jamaat is a pro-people, idealist and benevolent political party. It has been trying to stand by the side of the people during the crisis and disasters of the nation since its establishment. From this continuity, today, we are trying our best to alleviate the plight of flood victims of Sylhet. We will continue our efforts for the sake of humanity in the next In-Sha-Allah.” He urged the government, different political parties, donor agencies, private development agencies, charities and wealthy people to come forward to rehabilitate the flood victims.
He today said these while distributing reliefs among the flood victims at the west Alirgaon area of Gowainghat upzilla of Sylhet. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City North took the initiative of this relief distribution. Muhammad Fakhrul Islam, Jamat Sylhet City Ameer and member of central Mojlis-e-Shura, secretary Mohammad Shahjahan Ali, Jamaat Chittagong City secretary principal Muhammad Nurul Ameen, Nazim Uddin Mollah, assistant secretary of Jamaat Dhaka City North and member of central Mojlis-e-Shura, Jamaat Sylhet North Zilla secretary Joynal Abedin, former upzilla chairman and Gowainghat upzilla Ameer Abul Hossain, secretary Imrul Hassan and others were present of this time.
“The government did not take necessary steps for the flood victims though a devastating flood had visited across the country including Sylhet rather, a minister of the government has told lies by denying the distribution of reliefs of the opposition parties. They are denying their duties addressing the flood as natural disaster. Basically, state is responsible for solving people’s problems including disasters. But disobeying their constitutional duties, the government are doing anti-people activities. The government has started multi-crore expenditure in the name of the inauguration program while the different parts of the country have inundated,” he further added.
He called on the government to postpone different so-called development projects and state-redundant-expenditure to help the flood victims. Otherwise, government should be accountable to people.
He again added, “All types of natural disaster come from Allah.” Then he quoted the verse no. 155 of Surat Al- Baqarah from The Holy Quran. Here Allah (SW) says, “And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss, of wealth of lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to As Sabirun (the patient).” So, not to be impatient, we have to try heart and soul to overcome this crisis. Allah will assist us.
He again urged the manpower of all levels of the organization to work together for the welfare of the flood victims.
