Bangladesh Jamaat-e- Islami Dhaka City North Ameer Mohammad Selim Uddin and member of central executive council says, “Allah (SW) is the Possessor of sustenance and He has sufficient provision for all living beings. Therefore, there should not be a crisis of daily necessities in the market. But the government’s unbridled corruption, irregularities and market syndicates have made an artificial crisis of daily essentials across the country and inflation has now broken all past records.”
“As a result, a silent famine has been started across the country. Government is unable to check price hike though the country has adequate stocks of daily necessities. This proves that the pro-government activists have a major role behind the rise of daily essentials,” he adds. He urges the government to immediately restore discipline in the market system by checking prize hike. Otherwise, people will start an extreme form of movement to minimize prize hike. He speaks today while addressing at a pre-demonstration rally organized by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City North in the capital to protest the unbridled rise of price hike. He also demands the immediate check of inflation. The rally is held under the North Badda Bridge. At the end of the rally, the protesters take out a protest demonstration and they go around various important roads of the city. The protest demonstration is ended in front of Gulshan Link Road.
Jamaat Dhaka City North secretary and member of central working committee Dr. Muhammad Rezaul Karim, member of central Majlis-e- Shura and Jamaat Dhaka City North assistant secretary Lashkar Mohammad Taslim, Mahfuzur Rahman, Nazim Uddin Mollah, Dr. Fakhruddin Manik, Jamaat Dhaka City North working council members Hemayet Hossain, Maulana Muhibullah and Jamal Uddin, Shibir Dhaka City West president Sabbir Ahmed, Shibir Dhaka City North president Jahangir Alam, Jamaat Dhaka City North Majlis-e-Shura member Md. Ataur Rahman Sarkar, Mezbah Uddin Naeem, Advocate Ibrahim Khalil, Qutb Uddin and others are also present in the rally.
Selim Uddin says, “Due to the mysterious silence of the government, the oil refinery companies have abruptly reduced the supply of edible oil in the market on the pretext of raising prices in the international market. The prices of soybean oil have been risen by an average of Tk 15 to Tk 20 per litre in just a few days because of the supply crisis. As a result, every litre of soybean oil is selling from Tk 185 to Tk 200. Basically, the oil refinery companies are not supplying the edible oil according to the demand.”
“Allegations of price hike against the sellers and suppliers have also been leveled. But the government is not able to take necessary steps against these irregularities as the pro-government activists and high officials are involved in these,” he adds.
He further says, “The overall price situation has been deteriorated as the government is careless.”
He again says, “Now common people are unable to buy essentials. The prices of rice, pulses, oil, flour, salt, sugar, onions, eggs, meat and vegetables are continuously rising. The government has again risen the price of LP gas within a month.”
“The ministers of the government are ridiculing with people saying that the purchasing power of people has been risen though the miseries of people have been risen because of price hike. So, this anti-people government has to be overthrown and a people’s government has to be established,” he again adds.
He urges all to be ready to accept any kinds of sacrifice in the movement for the establishment of a people’s representative government.
