Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City North secretary Dr. Muhammad Rezaul Karim and member of central working committee said, “An artificial crisis has been made of daily necessities including edible oil due to government’s corruption, irregularities and market syndicate. Inflation has broken all past records. The government is unable to control the kitchen and wholesale markets though the daily essentials are stored enough. This proves that the government has a major role to rise the prices of daily essentials.”
He demanded the government to immediately restore order in the market by checking the prices of daily essentials including edible oil.
He today said these while addressing a pre-demonstration rally in the capital. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City North arranged this protest demonstration to protest the price hike of daily necessities including edible oil. Dr. Rezaul Karim also demanded the government to check inflation.
The protest demonstration was started from Mirpur Circle-10, moving various important roads of the city, ended to Shewrapara Bus Stand with a short rally.
Lashkar Mohammad Taslim, member of central Majlis-e-Shura and assistant secretary of Jamaat Dhaka City North, Mahfuzur Rahman, Nazim Uddin Mollah, Dr. Fakhruddin Manik, Ziaul Hasan, members of Jamaat Dhaka City North, Jamal Uddin, Yasin Arafat, Jahangir Alam, president of Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir Dhaka City North, Sabbir bin Harun, president of Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir Dhaka City West and others were present in the protest demonstration.
Due to mysterious silence of the government, the greedy hoarders have stored huge amount of edible oil. And an artificial crisis is being created by the lame excuse of rising prices in the international market and Russia-Ukraine conflict. The price of soybean oil has been risen almost TK 40 per liter by the excuse of so-called crisis. As a result, per liter soybean oil is now being bought at more than Tk 200. Basically, the oil refinery companies are not supplying edible oil as per the demand. Besides, allegations have been risen against the suppliers and sellers that they are making an artificial crisis to stop the supply chain. The government is not taking any effective step against them as the pro-government activists and many high officials are involved in these irregularities.
“People are unable to buy daily necessities. The prices of rice, pulses, oil, flour, salt, sugar, eggs, beefs and vegetables are rising in an alarming rate. The price of onion has risen TK 20 per kg in a gap of a day. The ministers of the government are ridiculing with people though the public miseries have risen due to price hike. So, this anti-people government has to be overthrown and a people’s government has to be established,” he again added.
He urged all to be ready to accept any kind of sacrifice in the movement for the establishment of a public representative government.
He further added, “The government has destroyed democracy and democratic values to prolong its illegitimate power. They are again planning for vote rigging after vote rigging, irregularities, intimidation in 2014 and 2018 election. The government wants to take away people’s voting rights by using controversial EVM machine in all the polling stations of the country. They do not care the decision of the Election Commission. But the conscious people of the country will never allow the government’s ill-motives.”
He called upon the government to handover power to caretaker government for a free, fair, neutral, peaceful, and pro-people election otherwise, people will establish their rights by uprooting the root of this fascist government.
