Dr Rezaul Karim secretary of Jamaat Dhaka city north and member of the central working committee strongly condemned and resolutely opposed the denial after picking up eminent lawyer of the supreme court Barrister Zobayer Ahmad Bhuiyan and Khandker Ruhul Amin, Jamaat Secretary of Hatirjhil Thana by DB police On November 29, 2018. He also demands to expose the whereabouts of the detained and unconditional release immediately.
In a statement he said, “The government becomes crazy in fair of losing power seeing Opposition parties’ are participating in the coming national polls. Since People won’t vote them they are plotting to retaking power through vote rigging. Consequently, they made the government system politically biased. They also made the election commission an order following institution. But for the mass awakening of patriotic people the government has increased the level of oppression on the mass people being afraid of losing power”.
“The govt. has become dependent on muscle power after becoming Mass isolated. They are planning in various ways to refrain the opposition from participating in election. The whole situation becomes deteriorated by Gayebi Mamla (Ghost Case). Although the strong demand has arisen for level playing field for all parties but the govt. is making the election field in equable. With this aim despite the declaration of election schedule, mass arrest, disappearance and abduction of opposition leaders and activists has increased alarmingly. In continuation of this, on 29 November, DB police took away the former Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Zobayer Ahmad Bhuiyan and Hatirjheel Thana secretary Khandker Ruhul Amin from Kawran Bazar and Nayapaltan. Then the relatives of the detainees contacted the DB office and related police stations, but all denied the arrest. Although news published with photo regarding the incident even the car number also traced but in daylight picking up innocence citizen and denying the fact is nothing but obvious sheer violation of human rights and rule of law” he added.
He said “the main responsibility is to confirm security of life and property of mass people through the application of law. However, the government has unleashed the law enforcement agencies to suppress people’s voice. People are being picked up by plainclothes police without warrant or any legal document. They are not being produced before courts as conforming with the law even after many days. These are surely violation of state constitution and Human Rights. ”. The leaders severely condemned the unlawful detention and demand immediate release of the detainees.
Statement of Tahmina Akter Surma, wife of Khandker Ruhul Amin:
Tahmina Akter Surma, wife of Khandker Ruhul Amin a victim of random arrest by DB police expresses deep concern also demands to know the wherabout of his husband. He also demands immediate unconditional release of her husband.
He complained to journalists that, her husband was picked up by plainclothe men while working in his office at Naya Paltan area of the capital city on 15.45 hour. She contacted DB office, Hatirjheel, Ramna and Paltan police stations but the concerned authority totally denied about the incident.
She said that, her husband was not produced before court after many hours of his arrest. It is very clear violation of conventional law, human rights and the constitution of Bangladesh. She Demands unconditional release of her husband immediately.
Statement of the family of Zobayer Ahmad Bhuiyan:
Family members of Barrister Zobayer Ahmad Bhuiyan a lawyer of the Supreme Court informed that, police from detective branch picked him from Kawran bazar area of the city. Dr Ferdousi, elder sister of Zobayer informed that he was picked up by DB police on 29 November at 3pm from kawran bazar area. In the meantime one identified him as Shahadat, Assistant commissioner of DB. Barrister Zobayer is a former chariman of the department of Law, Manarat International Universtiy. He is a ex-student of the department of law, university of Dhaka.
