Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami central Mojlish-e-Shura member and Dhaka City North unit’s assistant secretary Mahfuzur Rahman said, “The government has gone up electricity and energy prices to cover the looting money from power sector.”
“The government wants to cover all losses from energy and power sector,” the city leader alleged.
He today morning said these while speaking at a post demonstration protest rally at Mirpur in the capital. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City North unit arranged the demonstration as part of the central program protesting the electricity and energy prices hike, demanding the control of price hike of daily essentials. The demonstration was started at 10- Gol Chhattar area of the capital. It moved various important roads of city and ended with a short rally. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami central Mojlish-e-Shura member and Dhaka City North unit’s assistant secretary Nazim Uddin Mollah, Dr Fakharuddin Manik, Jamaat Dhaka City unit’s working committee member Ziaul Hasan, Yeasin Arafat, Jamal Uddin, Mohammad Ataur Rahman Sarker, Nasir Uddin, Shibir central leader Salah Uddin, Asaduzzaman and others were present on the demonstration.
“Awami League government is not elected by the people and so they have no accountabilities to masses. They in a planned way have destroyed people’s voting and food rights. Many countries across the glove have reduced the prices of daily essentials but Bangladesh gone up. As long as the fascists are in office, people’s sufferings will increase,” the Jamaat leader alleged.
“This vote rigging government should be left from office for the greater interest of the nation,” he further added
He urged all to remain united in the street to dethrone this illegal government.
“In the last 14 years, the government went up electricity prices by at least 121 percent at the consumer level in 12 rounds, gas price at 175 percent in 5 rounds, diesel at 237, octane and petrol at 169,” Mahfuzur Rahman further alleged.
He demanded the immediate control of price hikes of essentials and withdrawal of increased price of electricity.
