Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami central working committee member and Dhaka City North unit’s secretary Dr Muhammad Rezaul Karim said, “People have spontaneously boycotted the staged, managed, one-sided dummy election. Democracy-loving people of the country have already rejected the farcical result of Awami League’s subservient Election Commission.”
He today said these while distributing leaflets among mass people at the Rampura-Malibagh areas of the capital. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City North unit is observing the leaflet distribution and mass contact programme as part of the central program demanding the cancellation of January 7 dummy election, resignation of fascist Hasina, formation of election-time caretaker government for holding a free, fair, credible, inclusive and participatory national election.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami central Mojlish-e-Shura member and Dhaka City North unit’s assistant secretary Dr Fakharuddin Manik, Jamaat Dhaka City North unit’s media and publicity secretary Ataur Rahman Sarker, Mojlish-e-Shura member A K Khandaker, Kalim Ullah, engineer Jahangir Alam and others were also present on the occasion.
‘No election was held on January 7 but it was a farce. The candidates of government party had no opponents. They did not contest. The result was predetermined,’ he claimed.
‘Only 2-5% voter might have casted votes but the EC said that 40% voters had casted votes. The EC’s information is baseless, invalid and unreliable and unauthentic. The voter turnout was law. The polling stations of the capital were empty,’ the Jamaat leader further claimed.
“There were many irregularities in the polling stations. International media telecast the irregularities of the polling centres. The USA and UK did not accept the result of dummy election,” Rezaul Karim added.
He accused the government of abusing human rights.
