Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City South Ameer and member of central executive council Nurul Islam Bulbul said, “The leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami have come to the streets of Dhaka City to establish the rights of votes and foods. They will return home when the autocratic Awami League government will resign.”
Jamaat held that demonstration at 9:45am on Sunday from Shapla Chottor to Ittefaq Mor of Motijheel of capital.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka city unit arranged the demonstration and rally demanding the formation of election-time caretaker government, release of its leaders, activists, alem-ulemas including Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman. Jamaat Dhaka City South Ameer and member of central executive council Nurul Islam Bulbul led the demonstration.
Secretary dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud conducted the rally.
“If the activists of Jamaat-Shibir are tortured and oppressed in the name of control, they will build up resistance movement. We demand the protection of independence and sovereignty of the country. Upcoming national elections must be held under caretaker government. Sheikh Hasina should be resigned,” Nurul Islam Bulbul added.
‘The process of announcement of the election schedule is underway. Any conspiracy to announce election schedule will be thwarted,’ Jamaat leader added.
‘Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is a democratic and constitutional political organization. Jamaat believe in peaceful procession,’ he also added.
City Ameer demanded the release of Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, secretary general and former MP Mia Golum Parwer, city north Ameer Mohammad Selim Uddin, assistant secretary A T M Azharul Islam and a host of activists and alem-ulemas.
Advocate Helal Uddin, member of central Mojlish-e-Shura and Nayeeb-e-Ameer of Jamaat Dhaka City South, Jamaat Dhaka City North secretary and member of central working committee Dr. Rezaul Karim, Mahfuzur Rahman, member of central Mojlish-e-Shura and assistant secretary of Jamaat Dhaka City North, Nazim Uddin Mollah, Dr. Fakharuddin Manik, Delware Hossain, assistant secretary of Jamaat Dhaka City South and Dr. Abdul Mannan were present in the demonstration.
Jamal Uddin, member of working committee of Jamaat Dhaka City North, Muhibullah, Ataur Rahman Sarker, Nasir Uddin, Mukararam Hossain, member of working committee of Jamaat Dhaka City South, Shamsur Rahman, labor leader Abdus Salam, former Shibir president Mubarak Hossain, Hafez Rasedul Islam, labor leader Hafijur Rahman, student leader Salah Uddin, Asaduzzaman, Takrim Hasan, Touhidul Islam and others were also present.
‘The price hike should be controlled,’ Nurul Islam Bulbul added.
“As the country is yours, the country is ours. Don’t create massacre in the country. Don’t stand up against people. You are our brothers. We don’t think you are our enemies. We want peaceful protest as a legal political party,” Nurul Islam Bulbul said to the law enforcers.
Law enforcers barricaded passers- by at many points at the end of the demonstration.
