Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami will hold a rally in the capital on August 1 to press home the demands for the formation of election-time caretaker government, the release of its leaders, activists and alem-ulemas including Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, control of price hike of essentials.
Jamaat gave this information in a press conference at an auditorium in the capital on Monday (July 31). Jamaat Dhaka City North and South will hold the rally.
Jamaat Dhaka City North and South will hold the rally peacefully at the north gate premises of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque of the capital on August 1, Tuesday at 2:pm In-Sha-Allah. We have already completed all preparations for the implementation of the rally. People of all professions, caste and religion will join the rally In-Sha-Allah. It will become a historic rally with spontaneous participation of city residents.
‘A peaceful rally was hold at the premises of Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh last 12 June within a short message. We are seeking the full cooperation of everyone including the police administration to implement tomorrow’s peaceful rally to fulfill the people’s demands,’ Nurul Islam Bulbul added.
Jamaat acting Ameer professor Mujibur Rahman on 24 July announced a 3-day program to press home the demands for holding a free, fair and inclusive elections, the formation of election-time caretaker government, the release of all national leaders-activists, alem-ulemas including Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the control of price hike of essentials, protesting against not allowing Jamaate-Islami to hold meetings, rallies and processions . These included peaceful rally in all metropolitan cities on July 28 and all district headquarters on July 30 and a peaceful rally in Dhaka on August 1. The IGP of Police was informed in writing about the program by the central organization on July 24. Similarly, letters were sent informing the police administration in all metropolitan cities and districts. A delegation of lawyers led by Advocate Saifur Rahman, former co-editor of the Supreme Court Bar Association, informed the DMP Commissioner by email on 25 July about the rally at the north gate premises of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka city on August 1. Syed Mamun Mustafa, Deputy Commissioner of Police of police commissioner office, received the letter. The rally will be held at the north gate premises of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 2: pm In-Sha-Allah. Police administration will take immediate necessary measures to succeed the rally.
Jamaat always plays an important role to protect human rights.
‘This divisive government is using the members of law enforcement agencies of the state as a tool to achieve their political objectives. They (members of law enforcement agencies) are playing the roles as servants of the republic rather, they are playing the roles of Awami activists, Jamaat City South Ameer added.
‘The government has imprisoned Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, secretary general Mia Golum Parwer, assistant secretary general Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, former MP Shajahan Chowdhury, central executive member Mohammad Selim Uddin, so that they cannot take part in the upcoming national elections. The government has also detained famous Islamic speaker Allama Delware Hossain Saydee and ATM Azharul Islam for a long time. We demand their immediate and unconditional release,’ he further added.

Mubarak Hossain, member of central executive council, Abdur Rahman Musa, acting Ameer of Jamaat Dhaka City North and member of central working committee, advocate Helal Uddin, member of central Mojlish-e-Shura and Nayeeb-e-Ameer of Jamaat Dhaka City South, Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud, secretary and member of central working committee, Dr. Muhammad Razaul Karim, secretary of Jamaat Dhaka City North and member of central working committee, Nazim Uddin Milla, assistant secretary of Jamaat Dhaka City North, Dr. Fakharuddin Manik, Delware Hossain, assistant secretary of Jamaat Dhaka City South, Kamal Hossain, Ataur Rahman Sarker, publicity secretary of Jamaat Dhaka City North, Ashraful Alom Emon, member of Mojlish-e-Shura of Jamaat Dhaka City North and others were also present in the press conference.
BNP and its ally will also hold different political programs on Thursday to press home the demand for the resignation of ruling government.
