Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City North assistant secretary and member of central Mojlish-e-Shura Mahfuzur Rahman said, “Government has started mass arrests to suppress the ongoing mass movement. Police are charging batons on the national leaders. The govt. is also making farce by sending gifts to victims. The government stages different dramas when mass movement is begun. But they cannot divert the flow of the movement. The government should be left in disgrace.”
He today said these as the chief guest while speaking at a preparation meeting at an auditorium of the capital. Mirpur thana south of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City North arranged the preparation meeting for August 1 rally in Dhaka City. Thana Ameer advocate Alauddin presided over the meeting. Thana secretary Rakibul Islam conducted it. Thana working committee member Badrudzamman, ward president Amir Hossain Bablu, Babar Ali and others were also present in the meeting.
‘Inflation has turned into a challenge due to government’s unbridled corruption and looting. To save from mass upheaval, they (govt.) have imprisoned top leaders including Jamaat Ameer and city Ameer. They have also imprisoned alem-ulemas unjustly. They want to come to power again to arrange a vote rigging election,’ he added.
He called upon all to come out on the streets spontaneously to compel the government to accept the people’s demands of the caretaker government.
