Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City North acting Ameer and member of central working committee Abdur Rahman Musa and secretary Dr. Muhammad Rezaul Karim issued a joint statement condemning and protesting the mass arrests of law enforcement agencies across the capital.
“Demonstration and rally are the fundamental political rights of every citizen but the government taking completely taking away these rights,” they added.
“Fearing the popularities of Jamaat, the government has started mass arrests to impede the rally of June 10 in the capital,” issuing a statement on Wednesday, two Jamaat leaders said these
Police arrested 10 people including Jamaat Banani thana secretary Maulana Abdur Rafi when they were returning to their residences after performing prayer of Esha from Mohakhali Warles Central Mosque around 9:oo pm. Police picked up Tarek Hasan, an activist of Jamaat Adabar thana, from his house around 2:30 am. These are the complete violation of rules of law, democratic values and constitution.
“The government of night elections and vote rigging has targeted the patriotic citizens of the country to prolog their illegal power. BaKSAL Awami League are impeding the political activities of the citizens and doing so they are violating the constitution. Jamaat Dhaka City South sought permission to hold a peaceful demonstration and rally to DMP but they did not grant the plea of Jamaat. As a patriotic political organization, Jamaat applied for permission to DMP,” they added in a joint statement.
“Awami League has destroyed the democracy and democratic values of the country. The USA has formulated a new VISA policy for Bangladeshi individuals due to their avarice to power. This a matter of shock and disgrace for the nation and the country,” they further added.
Jamaat leaders urged the government to immediately hand over power to caretaker government honoring to public opinions.
Maulana Rafi was picked up by law enforcers from his workplace a few days ago. He was disappeared too for five days. Baseless and concoct cases were filed against Maulana Rafi. After granting bail from the court, he was rearrested from Jail gate too.
